**Descriptive statistics**

* describes data

* Measures of central tendency- how well things are clustered( mean median mode)

* Measures of variability- how well things are varied( range, variance,standard deviation)

* Correlation

- Correlation coefficient is used to find strength of a relationship

*there can be 2 modes (bimoadal) or three modes( trimodal) or more and there can be more than one mode

**Inferential Statistics**

* tells if data means anything

* Makes sure that things aren't by chance

**Standard Deviation**

*Stat measure of how scores spread around the mean

*big standard deviation- scores are spread out

*small statdard deviation- scores are clustered

* Variance is the square of the standard deviation
